free jeans

I visited my favorite store the $100 store otherwise knows as Target last week. All the skinny jeans were $4.98. They had several colors and styles available in LOTS of sizes. This week there is a coupon on their website for $5 off women's denim. I don't claim to be a genius but I think that means free jeans (you have to pay tax though). Now if you can get out of the store without buying anything that is the real challenge...there are several other good coupons there, too and they have mobile coupons now, too which means no ink and paper to waste money on. That is a real deal :) Happy Shopping!

freecycled Mediterranean credenza

I really want to write a post about freecycling. In the past month we have received an upright freezer and this credenza. This beauty was sitting in a closet at the Horsebarn art gallery in Falls Park. We spent all morning digging out the trailer so we could haul her home. She is big and heavy, but I like her.
Someday I will write a great post about freecycle, but not today.

No Room at the Inn - sharing gifts

Trail Ridge is hosting the No Room at the Inn on December 5 and 6 at Trail Ridge Retirement Center in Sioux Falls.

This beautiful display of many Nativity scenes is free for the family and there will also be vendors with booths including my sister and her hairbows and headbands for girls of all ages.

You really can't afford to miss this. There will be a free will donation that will benefit the homeless in Sioux Falls. I think it is a win win event.

See you there:)

While I was typing this post I got this message from my mom:) I'll call it divine timing...

This Christmas season, we are re-gifting Christ’s birth to the Sioux Falls community. You are invited to share in the wonder of Christmas by attending the fifth annual No Room at the Inn on December 5th (6 to 8 PM) and December 6th (1 – 4 PM) at Trail Ridge Retirement Community near 69th and Louise in Sioux Falls.

No Room at the Inn is a display of unique nativity scenes from around the world - with personal reflections about each Nativity by its owner. There will also be a silent auction, holiday vendors, outstanding entertainment and refreshments. What a beautiful way to remember the wondrous story of Christ’s birth and the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

No Room at the Inn helps two organizations…who in turn help many: St. Francis House in Sioux Falls, whose mission is to “move people from homelessness to hope,” and The Greater Sioux Falls Coalition on Aging, whose mission is to educate people on the resources available for the elderly – including housing options.

We ask you to accept this gift from us – to share with your family the story of Christ’s birth, to become aware of the needs of the homeless in Sioux Falls and become a part of the solution by attending this event. For you see, a young couple currently wanders the streets of Sioux Falls looking for shelter. They are knocking on your door. Will you tell them that there is no room? Or will you agree to accept this gift from us, and in-turn pass the gift on by supporting No Room at the Inn and our efforts to help the St. Francis House and the Greater Sioux Falls Coalition on Aging?

For more information about how you can support No Room at the Inn, please call 605-339-4847 or email nrati@live.com. This event is free and open to all public.

Ebates and YouData

I am a sucker. I pretty much sign up for anything that says free. I have made a few mistakes over the years. It took me awhile to figure out that I should have an email just for sign ups because some bring a lot of spam to my inbox.

But, sometimes, things work out and they are no trouble at all AND it's like getting paid to shop.

Maybe you haven't heard of these two yet. I hope you sign up for them and use them. I get checks in the mail once a month or more frequently. Research them more if you want so you can see for yourself whether it's worth signing up. But if you do sign up, please use my link, 'cuz that's a little extra for me, too. Both of these I have used for sometime now and I know they work. I couldn't live with myself if I was giving my friends and family a bunch of scam.

Ebates is a shopping site that gives you up to 26% Cash Back every time you shop online. You can shop at over 1000 stores including Barnes & Noble.com, Gap, Target, Buy.com and Expedia. Plus you get additional savings with exclusive coupons, free shipping offers, and limited-time sales! I buy my Avon from this site and they credit my account every time I buy face wash and bubble bath! Sign up with Ebates today and we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase!

Click here to sign up for Ebates: Ebates

The next company I would like to tell you about is YouData (youdata.com). They are trying to convince consumers like us that we should be the ones controlling our own data and selling our own attention, not third parties like broadcasters, newspapers, and spammers. By creating a MeFile at YouData.com, I now control what ads I see and when I see them. Best part - I am selling my attention directly to interested advertisers, for real money. That's right, I get paid for giving them my attention. I can use the funds to buy music and video online, donate to charities, give to my favorite blogs and websites, or keep the change myself and do whatever I want with it. It's real. They pay. You should check it out.

The first time I used YouData I made like five or six dollars. They just send it to my PayPal account. I click on the ads every other day or so and then I get paid. It's that easy. This week I forgot to do it often so I only made 60 cents. But hey, it's 60 cents I didn't have before. They pay me on Friday afternoon, like clockwork.

Click this link to sign up. My MeFile ID in the "Referral Code" will tell them I sent you. YouData

Happy clicking:)

Too good not to share...

I had to share a couple of deals. These are too good to pass up.

Walgreens is giving away a FREE 8x10 Photo Enlargement on Wednesday, May 6th. All you'll need to do is click here and upload your photo. Then just type in coupon code MOTHER when checking out. If you are able to pick it up yourself then just choose in-store pick up to make this photo enlargement completely FREE!

Do you coupon? My sister does, big and bad. The fever has spread to me just a little bit. I only buy items that I need and will use. I use diapers and this week K-mart is doubling coupons up to $2. That means if you have a $2 coupon they will double it to $4! Wahoo! I have several $1 and $2 coupons for diapers and wipes and some hair products that I will be using this week. It starts tomorrow and only lasts until Saturday, so get clipping! The Sioux Falls stores limit your coupons to 25 so don't get too happy! Or if you are really in the mood to get free products or $4 off diapers you can visit both stores in Sioux Falls and use 25 coupons per store. Thanks to my sister Jo and Hip2save.com for this helpful information! If you are not from Sioux Falls or the surrounding areas, check your weekly circular to see if your K-mart is doubling coupons or go to Kmart.com

and type in your zipcode to find the circular for your neck of the woods.
I am getting my huggies for $6 a pack and free shampoo and body wash with my coupons!

Happy Shopping!

Random Acts of Kindness and Freecycle

I have been a member of a free cycle group for at least a year now. I have given away decorations, teaching supplies, and coupons and have been lucky enough to receive much more in return. It is sometimes a hassle; setting up a pickup time, finding a vehicle to transport a large item, getting a lemon...like the time I finagled my brother to help my hubby get a deep freeze which, as soon as it was plugged in blew every fuse in my house :( oops. But I have gotten lots of wonderful baby things and last night came upon the find of the year.

My brother, who reminds so much of daddy, recently moved his family to my small community. They rent a small acreage a mile from town. I love having them close by. When they moved I noticed that they were using an old couch that I bought the year we were married from president of the hospital my husband works for. I vowed then and there to search for a couch fitting for a family of four and not a waiting room. Several times I thought I had found the perfect free one. Once my brother even drove to the house and the woman had given it away already after promising it to us. That along with a terrible experience my mother had trying to find a suitable home for grandpa's dog made me almost delete my bookmark for free cycle.

Then, last night, out of the 'blue' I read this humble post...

i have a blue leather couch sitting in my garage in very good condition
if anyone is in need of it and has a truck please let me know thanks we
are also willing to transport it to someone within sioux falls city
limits thanks so much again

I think it was the sheer exhaustion from working the concessions at the ballgame for three hours on swollen feet but I responded with a quick reply - "my brother and his family are in need of a couch in good condition"...

Then this morning I find this in my inbox;
your response indicated a need we would like to give you the couch

Then a few hours later I got a phone call with directions and as I passed the information onto my brother I mentioned my gut feeling about this family seeming exceptionally kind.

Later, my brother calls me back to let me know that the couch is in pristine condition. The family was extremely nice and even DELIVERED THE COUCH 30 MILES because my brother did not have transportation until tomorrow. They are moving and gave my brother a grill and a few other items. They politely exchanged phone numbers while both families children played together in the backyard. My brother was in shock that people would be so generous and helpful. He thanked him again and again and asked me to email another thank you to the family.

Sometimes it's the little things that really open your eyes to the amazing compassion of people who love to give. As I was checking the post again I noticed the user name; the_preachers_wife2006.

I asked my brother if the man mentioned anything about being a pastor or a reverend. "Not a word." was his reply followed by, "I would be really surprised if he was".

I wouldn't, even if they had a different user name altogether.

Kindness is beautiful...

I found this link today. Wouldn't the world be a wonderful place if we all were a little bit kinder? I know I could use a reminder. Maybe these cards or a poster will help me out a bit.
