Monday Multitudes 838-848

It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening...You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done, O Lord, What great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Psalm 92:2, 4-5

Feelings help us identify what is going on in our lives and all around us. But, feelings can be our enemy, too. If we dwell in them too long or lose perspective by thinking of how we feel about something. We can get stuck and focus on past failures, here and now struggles and the fear of what may come. How can we get out of this funk? Take our eyes off ourselves and set them on the Lord. As we look to God's greatness and goodness, His Spirit infuses us with hope about what He will do in our lives!

Having been a patient of chemotherapy where I visited the infusion center twice monthly, I can relate to the power of the word. I pray that I will be infused by the healing power of the Holy Spirit to change my attitude.

Today Lord I have so many blessings. Help me to focus on You and not me;

a schedule too busy to realize I am a single mom this week

making quilt tops with wonderful neighbors

finding the time to listen to my ipod and be infused

holding my tongue, Lord give me strength to not say the words that I feel

apoligizing for losing my temper and being forgiven by a two year old, "It's okay, mom are you a happy mom now?"

biting my tongue, it is just those evil feelings getting in my way, I need an infusion

friends who ask how I am and really care about my answer, I wish I was half the friend my friends are to me

chewing on my tongue, Lord thank you for teaching me patience and helping me not fly off the handle

sibling dish doers who do not argue while they wash, rinse, dry and put away...they earned four scoops of ice cream for getting along so well

Monday Multitudes 822-837

Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Who would have thought that Monday would be the "new" Friday? Our weekends have been so full it sure is nice to have a Monday to relax a bit.

I was able to experience an amazing event this weekend. It was spectacular. It was called Faith Girlz and featured author Nancy Rue. If you have a daughter age 9-13ish you should really check out faithgirlz.com. I took Maleah and it was a wonderful event for both of us. They are on a world tour currently and came to little old Sioux Falls, SD. There are lots of clubs around the nation for girls called GEMS, girls everywhere meeting their Savior. It reminds me of Girl Scouts or 4-H with the emphasis on Scripture. The girls do community outreach, earn badges and learn how to communicate with others by following the example of "Who's your Daddy?" JESUS. Nancy Rue is a pretty spectacular speaker, I can't wait to read some of her books. If you have a girl you should really check out her stuff. I am new to this, but I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Thanks so much to  my friend Janel for inviting me.

Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest, then all who belong to Christ will be raised when He comes back. 1 Corinthians 15:22-23

The concept of death makes us feel uncomfortable. We fear it because not one of us knows how or when we will die. Fortunately, the most reassuring news in the universe brings hope to our fears. Jesus, the only person who has experienced death and lived to tell about it, promises eternal life in heaven with God to all who trust in Him!

On this day that the Lord has made I am thankful for;

a family who has learned lessons about death and is now all the more knowledgeable and a little less afraid

My morning devotional compared meditating to cows chewing their food twice. It is sort of disgusting but very applicable when thinking about how we should bring those words back into our brains to rethink about them or meditate on them. I hope you have some time today to chew on God's Word.

Monday Multitudes 763-782

This morning as I put the title in this post I realized my last Monday Multitudes post was still in draft form, never published, sigh.

These past few weeks have been crazy. The weather and my busy schedule has really cut into my usually quiet winter. Life is FULL. That is a good thing.

I am so very blessed. Really more than I can fathom. But here are a few blessings I can count from the last week or so...

snow days with my whole family home

a house that is heated and warm

a Bible that waits for me to open it

friends who support me

an amazing sister

a niece who is a wonderful last minute sitter

a friend's mom who returned home from a lengthy hospital stay

time to finally send get well cards

time to do the taxes

time to read books with the girls

a few more scarves made

time to teach the kids some crafts

time to grocery shop with my sister

a husband who supports my craziness

a superintendent that brings my sick child home from school when I have two others under the weather here

not getting sick myself...yet

a fun school booster sandwich making event where I fought with some cheese slices

enjoying a Sunday with nothing to do

an amazing group of women, including my mother and my sister, who made cooking even more fun

Monday Multitudes # 748-762

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Hebrews 12:14-15.

PEACE

This week in first grade they are celebrating peace week. I love the idea of celebrating peacefulness, isn't it kind of oxymoronic? Celebrating peacefulness. Party of peace? Keeping the peace is a lot more difficult to do than to say. I lose my peace moments after I wake up. How can you keep a family of six in peace? It is an undertaking. I sometimes feel like a referee all day long. No wonder I am exhausted by suppertime. LOTS of times I give in and give up the peace along with the whole lot. But, I have found that if I can just hold on to that quiet voice and keep the peace my day goes a lot smoother. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I could never play poker, I can't keep my happiness or my sadness hidden. It IS a poisonous root, really. That root grows deep and all of my kids have stemmed from my root. Sometimes we have happy, sad, mad and goofy all at the same time in the same room. I get stressed out trying to make everyone even and calm at the same time, and my root digs deeper.

This verse is a reminder for me to work at it. It is not easy, but it is necessary. Everyone deserves to feel the grace of God! I challenge you to keep the peace this week.

Lord you bless me with so much everyday. Today I am very thankful for;

ice packs for when I sub for kindergarten p.e. class and the lesson plan involves scooters (the ice was not for me, but my knees could have used them)

sisters with amazing ideas and abilities especially when a 'new' plan is in the works

warm houses when it is cold outside

family movie night

sister in laws who babysit and wear out my kids with fun and games and baking

little girls who fall asleep in the popcorn bowl (see above for clarification)

husbands who are proud of their sons even when they don't really know the sport

sons who are beaming with pride from a first and second place award

friends who make my exercising accountable and easier to swallow

computers that work just enough to let you blog (therapy) and check email

a pile of new yarn that needs to be played with just as soon as I ice my wrist... again

neighbors who call to invite you for dinner and don't care that your kids drag mud all over their house

cars that start and get us from point a to point b without breaking down, we passed several on the side of the road this weekend

brother in laws that give you a ride home from the wrestling meet when your husband ditches you for football

found hershey bars in the back of the cabinet that, mixed with a jar of pb, make a nice treat for stressed out mommies, at least this mommy...

This week I am so very grateful and thankful for;

Coffeemakers bought on black Friday that FINALLY arrive in the mail... mmmm coffee.

Clean white streets in the morning and the joy it brings.

Sunday night Christmas programs that include handmade costumes, angels, shepherds, kings, and baby Jesus.

Treat bags filled with fruit.

Christmas cookies and hot apple cider with red hots.

Getting dressed up for church in dresses I found for $3 on clearance.

Sunday morning hymn sings in church followed by sermons that blow me away!

Watching the kids wrap gifts for their teachers and friends. Then watching them present the gifts. Seeing the joy in their face as they give instead of receive.

Anticipating time with family this weekend.

Birthday preparations for Maleah on Wednesday and baby Jesus on Saturday.

Giving plates of cookies away. Bye bye yummy calories.

Healthy, happy kids.

Projects getting completed in the house.

An ice shack that may be put to use this year.

A new recipe for birthday treats. I am gonna change this one up with some flax seed!

For my Aunt Patty and her battle with the bully.

For my dear dear friend Gene. I am not sure what my life would be without him. My family is so blessed to have Grandpa Geno. I don't tell him enough how much me means to me.

My wonderful, adorable, hard working and even harder playing husband whom I love dearly but have not gotten a Christmas present for.

Being content and even excited that my present will be watching my babies open gifts, hug grandparents and sing Silent Night. It will be the greatest gift of all.

I ain't gonna lie. These past two weeks have been rough. The jingle jangle has been more like crashing and banging. But, somewhere in between an invite to a big girl party and some long awaited quality family time I found my thankfulness again and my eyes opened wide to the glory of the newborn King and all his wonderment and along came the tidings of comfort and joy, tidings of comfort and joy.

I am back to crunching the numbers.

In spite of the many benefits God has blessed us with, how many times do we complain about little difficulties and trials? We lose sight of the big picture and fail to appreciate the really important things. Just as we cannot benefit from a wrapped gift under a Christmas tree until we open it, so gratitude can be seen as our way of opening the gift of God's love intended by all the small and big positive events of our lives.

I haven't had my coffee yet this morning and we are in full swing with birthdaypallooza. Addison turns three today. She was a real miracle conceived a month after chemotherapy and born whole, healthy and amazingly wonderful. I still have a hard time believing she is mine.

Today, Lord, I have so much to be thankful for. So much more than on this simple list. I am blessed. Ridiculously blessed beyond recognition. I am blinded by all the wonderful gifts you have given me.

It's Monday again. The weekend came and went with a couple of blinks. The time is flying by faster than I can count it. The kids are growing up and having birthdays and life goes on, even when mom doesn't want to crawl out of bed. I finally caught up to whatever the kids have had. My body aches (and it's from more than kickboxing class), my throat is on fire and I have a fever. Thank goodness for Monday Multitudes to take my mind of myself and onto more important things...

For I will pour water on the the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. Isaiah 44:3

In the children's sermon on Sunday Pastor asked the kids something and one of them answered with the word, LUCKY. Pastor jumped on that so fast my two year old jumped. "It's not luck" he said, "you are blessed!"Amen. Faith will get you through this life. It is the only thing that can get you through. I am praying that you all have some. Here are the blessings I can identify in my life a direct and intentional gift from my Lord and Savior.

#575 - one last camping weekend with friends in late September (it has been a long time since I counted my blessings)

a fantastic reading rally program put on by an adorable first grader and his classmates. I sure love that my kids love to read.

a productive church rummage where I broke my hand but also sold a car. The bake sale and lunch was a huge a hit, too!

my mother, who cleaned up my items for me since I was swollen and broken, I am so thankful for my mom, she is always right, whether I choose to admit it or not at the time :)

project season for daddy aka project man, in the works; a new mailbox, roof repair, new garage shelves and insulation, new bifold doors in all the kids rooms, and a hint of actually installing the sink that has been sitting on the floor of my laundry room for years now...and I am still working on the kitchen remodel we're closer than we have ever been before

a beautiful and warm entrance to my favorite season of the year

a diagnosis of mono (which was a blessing because I thought it was something much much worse) for the birthday boy.

an awesome bowling birthday lego football bonanza for my one and only boy, he didn't even know he was ill

a family baking session for the lego cake, if I hadn't had broken my hand I would have never had so many helpers, it was a really wonderful activity to share with the kids

plans for a wedding and a shower in the family, the third blessed event this year alone

a new niece or nephew on the way, a surprise blessing, I have a few of those in my family:)

a celebration of life for an awesome grandpa of my dear friend, thank you Lord for sharing him with us even if just for a while...

a prayer for health and healing of a dear friends mother who is undergoing surgery again this week, one of several...Lord, guide the professionals to do your will and be with Harriet and her family as she faces this challenge Lord, all things are possible Lord, all things...

a new kitchen aid mixer for the broken mommy that came with a promise of never leaving the cookie jar empty, great for dad's tummy, not so great for mom's rump :) oh the sacrifices I make

two more birthdays this month and a full ten days when I will have two two-year olds in the house, prayers graciously accepted ;)

pulling my first all nighter with Nora last night, my heart aches for sick children, she couldn't keep a tablespoon of water down, hoping and praying that she can get through this and without a lot of suffering and pain for her, I am blessed and reminded that I have four healthy children and an occasional illness wonderfully reminds me of how "lucky" I really am, this month alone we have been blessed with an ear infection, pink eye, mono, and now Nora's upchucking and then there is my hand, but technically that was last month...Lord, thank you for all the months of the year when we are healthy and take it for granted.

Do not remember her sins, but look upon her sufferings and grant her refreshment, light, and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

feeling really lucky and wondering if we should purchase a lottery ticket and then remembering it's not luck...it's faith and hope and was already planned out a long time ago
everything works like it should...even better than we thought it would

celebrating some much needed family time together

relishing in the plan that the Lord has for us...thanking Him for his goodness and mercy and for giving us a wonderful weekend full of blessings and surprises :)

Monday Multitudes # 471-501

This morning I am thankful for;

lots of red tomatoes, give me the burst of energy I need to can them

same with the cucumbers

a worship service still ringing in my ears

healthy kids

a break from the heat coming

little girls with curls

kids reading books to each other

kids who can make their own breakfast

leftovers for lunch

kids who can help fold laundry

sisters who call just to listen to my house noise

kids who are excited about the first day of school

grocery stores that are near so I can get the milk I forgot to get

Popsicles

coffee with cream

mountains of laundry that will wait

the computer for a getaway

emails from friends

time to think

remembering to do my blessing list

tears

more tears

playing in the sandbox with the girls

dresses made from pillowcases

time to pray

fair memories

getting to know my nieces and nephews better

unexpected thank you gifts

hugs from friends

being the greatest sometimes - this was Pastor's message yesterday
