Despite two losses at the end of the tournament the Gamedogs are going to the State Tournament. The first game will be Wednesday night at 6 pm against Dimock/Emery. The tourney is at the Sioux Falls Stadium, home of the Pheasants(previously known as the Canaries). I am hoping they update Sdaba.com shortly with game info. and times.

smores, a 5k, sunshine and more baseball

Friday's game was cancelled. We got the notice pretty late and supper (early) was on the table already, grilled burgers, watermelon, and baked potato wedges. So we ate, slowly for a change, and then lit up the fire pit and roasted smores into the night. Well, actually it was still pretty light when the kids went to bed, but dad and I (and a couple of fat tires) stayed up past dark.

We woke to an early morning phone call. Ryan looked at the clock and couldn't believe the whole family was still in bed. The call was an invitation for Maleah to run in a 5k. She is the runner in our home. She loves to run and run and run. I was told she had a perma-smile all day. This morning she said her calves hurt ;)

Today the Gamedogs play in Canova at 2pm. The sun is shining the babies are napping and I have clothes on the line so I plan to give the game a go. I hope it's a good one and we come out on top. Check the website for stats later on and hey, if you're out and about, get on over to Canova and enjoy the sunshine and a little of America's favorite pastime yourself!

Singlet news

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A wrestling singlet (or simply singlet) is a one-piece, tight-fitting, colored uniform, usually made of spandex, lycra, or nylon, used in amateur wrestling. The uniform is tight fitting so as not to get grasped accidentally by one's opponent, and allows the referee to see each wrestler's body clearly when awarding points or a pin. Unlike judo, it is illegal to grasp an opponent's clothing in all styles of amateur wrestling.

The Gavinator pulled out a 2nd place trophy at the invitational on Saturday. He was so proud, right before he went into his second match his cousin got a fat lip while wrestling. I thought for a fleeting moment that that moment might mean the end of Gavin's career, but instead he surprised me by pulling my arm and whispering into my ear, "I am gonna win this one for my cousin." And he did. Here is a sneak peek of part of that match.

whilst dreams of vacations danced in my head...

It's 11:30 pm. The game is in the 9th inning. It will probably be over by the end of this post.

The first inning was perfect. After that everything went down hill. It was painful. My husband was pitching and I could feel his pain as the opposing team scored 7 runs. I heard myself meditating quiet cheers for each player as they stepped up to bat.

In the bottom of the eighth we finally got our chance. With bases loaded and two outs JK (my hero) got a grand slam, but only after I whispered silently to myself, "if anyone can do it you can - hit that ball with every fiber of your being"...

We scored 9 runs in the 8th inning to win 10-7.

I guess the cheers really work, eh?

Keep 'em coming.

moving on up

Despite not having his uniform clean until minutes before the game started my hubby (the stud man) still managed to pitch almost the whole game before accidentally hitting two batters, oops. He came out when they were tied so he doesn't get the win (which I think is a totally bogus rule and if I had some sort of baseball boss power I would change it) but he did bring in the tie breaking run, I think :), with his totally, awesome, studly, barely fair hit, ball down the first base line, AND he looks terribly handsome in uniform...:) For more complete and less biased and probably a bit more correct stats see the website here :) Unfortunately one of our pitchers hurt his hand pretty badly while playing outfield during the game. I was sure it was his head the way he hit the fence but I am praying his hand heals quickly, because he is a daddy and needs to have healthy hands NOT so that we win districts but that would be really nice, too!
