Ever heard of IBC? I hadn't...

Click on the this link to hear about Inflammatory Breast Cancer. It was news to me.

SEATTLE - Breast cancer is something women think they know all about: Look for lumps; have mammograms; see our doctors.

But none of that will save you from one silent breast cancer killer that women know virtually nothing about.

It's called "inflammatory breast cancer," and it's something every woman must know about.

Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean

ds is in the bathtub and he screams out to me, "Mom, don't worry,I can clean the shower for you." I giggled and then wondered what he meant exactly. I pulled back the curtain to find an almost empty shampoo bottle and a lot of soapy walls. "See, now you don't have to clean it." He added with a smile...

Yearning for Sunday already

as we were relaxing in the cool AC tonite, my handsome three year old came waltzing down the steps in dress slacks holding his shirt and tie only by his fingertip as it was draped over his shoulder, right out of the GQ magazine. I looked at my dh and he looked at me and we busted out laughing.

"What?" he said when we had regained our composure. "I am getting ready for church."

If I wasn't fat and tired, I could have jumped up and snapped a photo, but I didn't.

Last week of fulltime work for awhile

Things I will miss:

networking with other home visitors, fss's, and program supervisors as well as all the cool support staff who were so kind to me
seeing the smiling faces of the kids when I arrive at their home for a visit (and their parents, too!)
PALS events with the whole families
the Centerville Bakery:)!!!! (baby likes donuts)
listening to my favorite radio station while driving, I just don't turn it on at home
viewing the gorgeous countryside while the sun is rising or setting
touring beautiful Turner County

Things I won't miss:

dogs the size of elephants
driving in the snow/rain/hail
answering voicemail's and rescheduling visits
the paperwork :) he he he
outdoor visits with gnats
having to remove my earrings for baby visits (don't mess with my jewelry :))
getting lost in Turner County

open mouth, insert foot and leg and hip...

On the way home from dh's ballgame yesterday we saw three highway patrol cars in less than a 10 mile radius of the back roads we were traveling. About 5 miles from home I said, "If we see another hi-po, I will strip naked and ride the rest of the way in my birthday suit."

Would you believe another cop car came up over the hill less than a minute later?

AAARRGGHHH.

and no, I didn't!

Fun in the summer...

Dh hosted a backyard barbecue this weekend for the team and their families. I think the adults had just as much fun as the kids did!

one month and a few days later...

A few days over a month from the very moment my 5 year old daughter learned to ride her bike without training wheels, on concrete; my three year old son learned, too. He is so proud of himself, riding in the grass and the alley and down hills already...why do they grow up so fast?

*sigh*

thank goodness for blogs, I'm terrible at writing things in the baby book...

No more crying mornings, I hope.

The hair is gone. She begged and begged and begged and I finally gave in. I started with an inch or two, but by the time my uneducated and swollen fingers were done snipping it turned into a bob. Thank you Jesus for hair that continues to grow! I know, I will keep my day job, for the next few weeks anyway :)

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary...

Contrary to say the least. I believe we planted seeds in the garden in May and then completely forgot about that little patch of land until just recently when we had to TILL the weeds. AMAZINGLY enough, my dd took these shots of the lettuce and carrots just this morning. Talk about miracles...

That was a good game, mom!

Dh's teammates are hosting a ball clinic on Saturday mornings here in the village. My kids are enjoying it immensely. It is so great that the guys can take an hour and a half out of their busy schedules to teach these young kids. We are so lucky to have such great people in our community.

If you have a young-un who is itching to learn a bit about America's favorite past-time, bring 'em down to the softball complex on Saturday mornings at 9 am. I guarantee they won't be disapointed.

I caught one THIS big!

The kids went fishing with dad, uncles and Grandpa last weekend. They had a blast. Dd would not touch the fish she caught bare handed, so we used a paper towel:)

Thanks to a friend of a friend for sharing this...

Overweight, overthirty, and pregnant.

Feeling my age today, I think.

It's a combination of the heat, my fat and ever expanding belly, and my busy life. I could blame it on working again, or being pregnant, or a number of other issues in my life. I had to pry my ring off my finger last night in fear of it never coming off. I am swollen and puffy and short of breath. I can't get comfortable when I am sleeping and my hands keep getting numb at night. I had a doctors appointment today to flush my port and I have been so busy I haven't even been able to take the white band off my wrist yet...

I think just need to work on my equilibrium a little. I need to balance my spiritual life with my earthly one. I love to set aside special times to pray and study the Word of God, but I also enjoy Him while I am doing other things. I listen to Christian music whenever I can. I pray with my children where ever we are and I try to enjoy life and God at all times. It is good to know He is ever present and always available to listen to my prayers.

"So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

Slip n Something...

Today my handsome dh fell 8ft at his second job. He has a scrape on his shin and another on his rib area. He is lucky, again, to not be more hurt. I think he has used 8 of his 9 lives. So tonight when he set up the slide for the kids and then TRIED IT OUT, you can imagine my thoughts...
